The Splendid Courses of Breckenridge for Golfers

January 7, 2010 by Monique Mertrandes · Leave a Comment

Have you played in a 27-hole golf course constructed according to Jack Nicklaus design? If you have, then it could only have been at the Breckenridge Golf Club. The Jack Nicklaus designed course opened in 1985 with 18 holes. Its successful operation made the town officials decide to expand the course with nine holes, which was named The Elks Nine. The expansion, constructed at a higher elevation than the first 18 holes made Breckenridge Golf Club more prestigious.

The Praise

The praises that Breckenridge Golf Club gets from many golfers are made formal by the recognitions it gets from the likes of Colorado Golfer which named the Nicklaus-designed course both the Best Mountain Course and the Toughest Mountain Course. Another confirmation came from Golf Digest which gave it 4-1/2 stars in its Places to Play guide while naming it among the nations top Upscale Places to Play.

Course Characteristics

The High-Altitude Effect

So, what impresses the visitors about this golf course aside from its designer? Maybe you have played in a few other Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses but you should still visit the Breckenridge Golf Club for its unique features. For example, have you played at an elevation of over 9300 feet higher than sea level? There is less air resistance and gravity at that elevation, so your ball will be easier to control than when you are playing at lower altitudes. Playing at The Elk Nine is a good opportunity to set a new record for your game score.

Great Golf Weather

During summer its still cool at higher elevations. You can play for hours and forget that its summer because you dont perspire so much as you walk towards each hole. You wont be as comfortable at lower elevations. Summer temperatures are between the 70s to 80 degrees. During spring and fall, it lowers from 50s to 60 degrees. Bring a jacket when you play during spring or fall.

Exciting Terrain

A well designed golf course will always have exciting terrains. Choose one according to your expertise level. Can you well mange gently rolling terrains or that is already too tame for you?

Splendid Panorama

Possibly, the finest windfall of choosing to play golf in Breckenridge is the breathtaking vista that you see anywhere you turn. If you happen to be seeing Bear Nine, you are also viewing a historic spot as that was where the miners searching for gold in Breckenridge used to have their tent city. The golf course also presents a good view of natures beauty through the native grass and the wetlands as well as overviews of the Ten-Mile Range as well as the Breckenridge Ski Resort. In Beaver Nine, youll see the masses of rock piles that were left behind by the miners. The beaver ponds actually add to the difficulties of the nearby holes. Dont let the beavers add to your frustration, if you are. Look at the Buffalo Mountain and its beauty will ease out some of that frustration. The golfers at Elk Nine are privileged with the most extensive scenery that includes Breckenridges Ten-Mile Range, the lush greenery and a lake. The lake and the bushes raise the difficulty level of the course but at the same time offer their breathtaking beauty to the golfers.

Such extraordinary effects make Breckenridge a joy to any golfer. If you choose to stay in a Breckenridge condo or in a vacation home that are just short distances from the golf course, you wont be taking much time away from golf. A widely recognized golf course, combined with golf weather and magnificent scenery-where else can you find a better place?

Need Help Planning Your Next Family Trip

December 22, 2009 by Pablo Cox · Leave a Comment

Planning your next vacation can be as easy as 1, 2, 3. That’s right, planning your next vacation can be simple with free travel brochures. If you have a place in mind you want to spend your next vacation, you can log on to the internet and find free travel guides. They have them for almost any destination in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Even if you do not know where you want to go you can order several different guides and that can help you decide. Last year we decided to go to southern Utah. I have always seen pictures in books and magazines, but I always thought that Utah would be pretty boring. We found a site and ordered several travel guides from them. After reading more about southern Utah I was very interested in going there.

A lot of hotels that are located in tourist spots have little kiosk with a lot of different travel guide brochures. These brochures will show all the different things that the area has to offer. Well what if you are heading to that tourist spot and want to plan your trip ahead of time? I guess having one of those kiosks at your local grocery store would help you out a lot.

This is a real convenient way to make travel plans. If you are like me, you like to have an itinerary with you at all times during a vacation. I hate wasting time arguing with everyone on what to do next. Having a brochure of the local area will almost eliminate the arguments. You can fill your days something for everyone.

There are several different things to see in this great country and great places to visit. The history of this country is really awesome and too sees some of the sites is a lot of fun. Our trip to Sandusky, Ohio last year led us on a cross country tour and we passed through a lot of great sites, including my girlfriend’s favorite, the bridges of Madison County.

My brother had a school assignment where he had to do a report on a state that he was assigned. He was assigned Maine. We did not know much about Maine so we found ourselves going back to the web site where we got our travel guides and ordered some free travel brochures from Maine. He used the pamphlets to find pictures and information that he used to write his report and give his presentation.

The internet is here to stay. Mobile phones even have web browsers on them. Printed information has taken a back seat to the convenience of having all the information at your fingertips. Profits of newspapers and magazines have dropped. So you may wonder why you should go with printed travel brochures. I can tell you that it is not smart to rely only on your technology. I think of my river trip I took down the Colorado River last August, I did not have any service on my cell phone and would have missed a lot of historical sites if it weren’t for my brochures that I ordered from the internet.

So next time you are out, get some free travel guides and don’t worry about the technology of the world. You can have it all in one hand. I wouldn’t have seen many of the cool things I saw while traveling down the river if I didn’t have printed out information.

Pablo Cox has ordered free travel brochures for almost every holiday he has taken in the past few years. His latest trip landed him inCalifornia and he used his California travel brochures he got for free online.

Getting the Most from Golfing Lessons

December 18, 2009 by Rhys Jones · Leave a Comment

It is never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is almost a necessity. Unfortunately, we often ask our friends and partners, when, in reality we should take a few lessons with a professional, usually called the Club Pro.

We may think that a Pro would criticize too harshly, but they are honest, positive and usually very helpful.

Golf lessons at the local golf course aren\’t as expensive as you probably think and they are worth it too, since your game will get better more quickly thus causing you less frustration, making playing golf much more fun for you.

It is of vital importance to be absolutely honest about your game. The Pro will ask you what you think you need to start with: driving, chipping, putting or whatever you feel you need assistance with.

Listen carefully and follow the Pro\’s instructions. You may have doubts if the Pro changes your stance, your grip or your swing, but really, the Pro does know best.

Please don\’t hesitate to ask the Pro golfer any questions you may have and don\’t worry about whether your question or concern may sound silly – they\’ve heard it all before and will not make you feel like a fool for inquiring. If you don\’t get it, tell the Pro that you do not understand. You should never walk away from a lesson with unposed questions.

For example, a course of lessons might be to concentrate on one thing during a lesson, or on several things. You might begin with a lesson on driving; get the grip, the stance, the swing and the follow-through right in one lesson and then practice it \’for real\’ for a few weeks until you feel that you\’ve got it more or less right. Next time, you might decide to work on your short game, or putting.

You\’ve invested in the set of golf clubs and it isn\’t cheap, is it? So, it doesn\’t make sense not to learn how to use it to it\’s best advantage and improve your game, does it?

A Review of Timex GPS Watches

December 13, 2009 by Joseph Aaron · Leave a Comment

Having an active lifestyle naturally leads a person into the great outdoors and the requirement of Timex GPS Watches. Nature’s playground is vast and breathtaking, filled with endless vistas and high mountains. Yes, unspoiled landscapes can be found, regardless of what some might think. The outdoors has a hundred wonders that health clubs and towns and cities don’t have, and these are the wonders that health seekers go for. A great option is the Timex Ironman T5G311 Bodylink GPS Watch.

Bicyclists, trekkers, power walkers, and campers can be seen returning over and over to the untouched limits of our world. Whatever reason calls you to visit the great outdoors, you will fret occasionally about getting lost. It’s funny; the great outdoors is great because it’s big, but it will often be perilous for that very same reason. Ending up lost while hiking or running or whatever else, only to be discovered the next spring by another hiker is an event everyone wants to avoid.

For a lot of us, GPS systems can be a practical solution. Modern GPS systems can calculate where you are on the planet with exactness measured by scant centimeters. These handy gadgets are rendered still more convenient by incorporating them into timepieces, like Timex GPS Watches. When incorporated into a watch, the GPS reaches it’s full potential. Ideally, GPS systems can be employed to calculate and display the position of anyone. By incorporating it in a watch, the system’s usefulness is finally achieved. People almost never remove their watches, so this can be as helpful a device as any for up-to-the-minute tracking. On top of that, people don’t often not bring their watches, so this can give you an accessible emergency option for those who suddenly need to find out where on earth they are. A nice model is the Timex Ironman T5G311 Bodylink GPS Watch.

Thanks to the fact that Timex GPS Watches are digital, they are able to be augmented with more useful applications. Since these watches are most usually worn by exercise and adventure seekers, metrics like heart rate, distance to destination, direction, multiple lap times, and miles per hour are able to be monitored. The Timex Bodylink Ironman Triathlon Watch is an appliance which employs all these options. It tracks your heart rate with the help of a strap that is strapped on a wearer’s chest. An arm wrap attached the FM signal generator to the user’s arm. It creates a personal FM field, which is used to interface information transmitted and gathered by that watch. Overall, the Timex Bodylink is a satisfactory system for a runner who is keeping and eye on his or her performance.

One might have the impression that electronic units with such an amount of funcitons will be chunky and somewhat distracting to wear. The continually-evolving wonders of miniaturization have made it possible for GPS watches to be engineered in nearly the same dimensions as many other “ordinary” watches. A GPS watch might be marginally larger than a ordinary watch, but this minor inconvenience is outweighed by its potential uses. For example, Timex GPS watches are sporty enough to look good for the arms of large men as well as small women. A good unit to invest in is the Timex Ironman T5G311 Bodylink GPS Watch.

Indeed, the Unisex Trail Runner timepiece is ounobtrusive and light enough to make it unconfining even when you engage in some hard-core exercise, and it appears natural on anyone no matter which gender. Even if you aren’t the rugged explorer-type, Timex GPS watches and other like devices are able to give you peace of mind. You’re never truly lost!
