We are a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 child) and would probably stay 3-4 days. I would like to stay at a nice hotel in close distance to the park. What do you think is the cheapest way to stay, including all expenditures? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Here is what I would suggest. For the absolute best experience I would highly recommend staying on property. You could stay at the value resorts to get the best prices, and moderates if you have a little bit larger budget. Both are great. Staying on site is so much nicer than staying off site. The transportation is easy and you can get to and from the parks with ease, you can even go back to room for a little bit and then go back to the hotel. Sometimes offsites don’t offer shuttles all day and they will just have them at certain times, this isn’t as nice as being able to come and go as you please. I usually don’t even have a car when I stay at Disney because I don’t go off property. I just take a town car to and from the airport and use Disney transportation to get around.
I would go with a package. You can get a really good price with your tickets and cutomize it to your liking so you only get what you want. You can also add on the dining which is wonderful and can save you money. Also, to save a little money you could go during off season. Crowds will not be as big and you can get a lower nightly rate.
If you need help to plan your trip I recommend: http://mousetrips.com/WaltDisneyWorld.html This is the company I book all of my trips through and they are wonderful. They will be able to help you plan your trip so that you get the most out of it and save the most. They will take care of everything you need and also help you with any questions, they are wonderful. There is not charge for their service and they are the same price as Disney, so you are not paying any extra, but they will help you so that you can get the absolute best trip with the money you spend.
Hope this helps!
Stay at one of the moderately priced hotels on the Disney Property…there are even some hotels on Hotel Plaza Boulevard that are official Disney Hotels, but not owned by Disney. I guess it depends on what is more important to you…the parks or the hotel. The Grosvenor, The Doubletree Suites are nice hotels….some of them have Continental breakfast included with the cost of the hotel. If you don’t get a package, where the tickets are included in the price, then make sure you buy park hopper tickets, as they allow you to go in and out of more than one park per day without using more than one day’s admission. You might also try eating lunch or dinner outside of the park-that would be less expensive. Just across from Downtown Disney, there are many restaurants that are less expensive-Olive Garden, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Mexican Restaurants, etc. Or you could time your lunch in such a way that it’s lunch/dinner combination and then only have to worry about a snack/light meal at night. Some people make sure there’s a refrigerator in the hotel room and buy small groceries- like milk, cereal, yogurt…so that’s one less meal to worry about. Also, pack some fruit bars in your purse, so if your kid gets hungry, there’s a healthy, inexpensive snack.
