What is the best age to take your kids to Disneyland/DisneyWorld?

My son will be 5 this summer and I can’t wait to take him to Disneyland or Disneyworld. My wife and I have differing opinnions on when is a good time to take him. I think that 5 or 6 is a good age for Disneyland and maybe wait until he is 12 or 13 for Disneyworld. My wife thinks we should wait until he is at least 8 or 9 before we go to either. What do you think?

I agree with you – 5 is a great age to take them on their first trip to either park. There is no need to wait until they are a teenager to go to Disney World. Disneyland and Disney World each have fantastic attractions and entertainment for younger children, as well as teens and adults – so there is truly something for everyone.
Visit Disney’s website at http://www.disney.com and click on parks. Visit Disneyland or Disney World – whichever you are more interested in visiting. Click on "something for everyone" and check out the specific attractions for kids in that age range.

Have a great time!
Why are you waiting until such a late age to take your child to Disney World? We recently took our 4 year old daughter for the second time (first time she was 3) and she loved it! She still talks about it. At 3, she didn’t get as much out of it, but at 4 it was a lot of memorable fun.
You guys need to work this out….buy my opinion is that from about 4 or 5 on is a good age….there is something for kids of all ages at Disneyland/Disneyworld….4 to 80….have fun!
like 8 becaue at this age he wont go on most ride because of his height
Disney was designed for kids of ALL ages.
Disneyland is a fantastic environment for all kids. I think the deciding factor will always be for the love of disney and their characters. That creates the most joy of disneyland, no matter what. I’m 19, and I still love going to Disneyland, being with my family.
At this point of your child’s age, I think it would be a nice time to go right now, because it almost doesn’t make a difference on whether he will enjoy it or not based on Disney. There are way too many good rides and attractions at Disneyland for little kids (especially right now) for any young age to enjoy. Waiting too long may be too late (unless they are already a major disney fan…then you wouldn’t have to worry). Disneyworld is a lot more different environment. While disneyworld is based on disneyland, the mgm studios and epcot especially can sometimes be too much for the little kids. Like, they wouldn’t be able to appreciate was is being given for them.
Now, another consideration is how much you guys are willing to ride. Disney has a good system for people who have kids who are too short to ride, where one goes on the ride while the other watches the kid, then right after s/he exits the ride, the other person who was just watching the kid goes directly in (only the first person waits in line).
However, if you don’t enjoy that idea, then waiting may be a good idea if you want to ride each and every ride with everyone together. Fantasyland is thebest area for a 5 year old, since there are really no height restrictions in that area…but for adults who have no disney interest, it might be an extremely dull moment.
Go now- he’d get a kick out of it!
We took our daughter to Disneyland this past Thanksgiving and she is almost four.
She had an absolute blast, was ecstatic to meet some of the characters and loved the rides! (Especially the teacups and the coaster in Toon Town).
Honestly for little kids, Disney World is the best. If a kid hasn’t been to Disney by when they are seven then they need to go soon!
I think you should wait until he is about 11 years old.At that age,he will still like kid rides and things but will be interested in older kids rides and things. He will enjoy it better when he’s that age.At the ages you described he might be to young and at the other point to old.If you go when he’s his current age,he won’t remember a thing years down the road.
We went last summer and my daughter was 6. That’s probably the perfect age. There were only 5 or rides she wasn’t able to ride and she has great memories. Don’t forget to take an autograph book so he can get all the characters to sign it.
I took my oldest son to Disneyland at almost 4 years of age. It was great, he could ride most attractions. He was a little weirded out by the characters*. When my second son was 9 months old we took him. To our suprise he loved the park even more than the older then 4 1/2 year old. Now we go every year, they love it no matter which stage of developement they are in. My oldest is now 6 1/2 and can ride everything except Indiana Jones.
*My youngest now age 2 1/2 absolutely loves the Characters and has since 9 months.
Disneyland 6 to 15. My brother went and he is 17 and loved it!
You should take them at young age and take them again and again they will love this place even if they are17 now if you take them at a older age they will not like it and never want to go again see if you take them at 4 and take them again and again they will get used to it and maybe they will think that disney rides are good rides and then they might jump on twilight zone tower of teror. so take them at a young age!
I think about 7 or 8 kids that age get excited and happy about going to somewhere like that. Kids that age are in the stage where they wanna explore and let out their energy.
I think it depends on the kid. Some kids can handle a long day at an amusement park when they’re very young, some can’t.
Personally, I started going to Disneyland when I was about 2 (we’ve ALWAYS lived right here by it). My daughter’s first trip to Disneyland was when she was 5 months old (she’s already been 3 times before she was a year old), BUT in my defense, we get in for free and often would only go to just walk around and see friends who work there and shop and eat, etc. If I had to PAY and travel and all that? I probably wouldn’t even bother taking a child under 2 or 3. Strollers can be a pain sometimes, and with babies and toddlers you need to bring so much stuff to keep them comfortable and happy, etc.
For instance, although we’ve been taking her to Disneyland since she was 5 months old, we’re waiting to take her to Disney World till she’s about 7 or 8. For a few reasons: 1) That’s a lot of money and time to travel there and all that, and I want to make sure it’s worth it, 2) We want to wait to go when she can remember it, enjoy it, and actually know the difference between being at Disneyland and Disney World. It would seem like such a waste of money for us to go when she’s 3 and then have her say later on that she couldn’t tell the difference. =P
Think of it this way: It really couldn’t hurt to wait another year or two. It’ll give you guys more time to save more money or plan the trip better, etc. And he’s more likely to remember and appreciate the trip a bit more when he’s 7 also. But I do know what it’s like to be SO excited about sharing fun with your kids. =)
Hope I helped a little!
I would say 8,9, or 10 would be good. Disney World and Disneyland are younger oriented anyways. A kid about 12 or 13 wouldn’t have that much fun except on a few rides. Yes, although, it is good to go back to Disney World for the real thrill rides like Mission SPACE, Test Track, etc. when he is about 12 or 13, but by that age Universal, the Six Flags parks, the Cedar Fair parks, and the Busch Adventure parks (Sea World & Busch Gardens) are the way to go.
I never thought about Disneyland or Disney World being better for different ages. Why wait to 12 or 13 for Disney World? It’s not that different from Disneyland. Anyway, I think you guys should think a little less, and just go have fun! Enjoy!
if he is too big, ur child will think it is childish
well.. i am 13, and i went to disney "world" when i was 11.. i think that you should take your son to disney "world" when he is about 8-11.. because you do want your child to remember it.. because when your child is five, he wont remember things as much as when he is eight or nine.
