Expedition Everest is the best ride in Disney, with Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster a very close second (R’N'R is my favorite ride.) In terms of scariness, Expedition Everest to me is scarier. Space Mountain is lighted at least a little bit, so you will be able to see where you are going (at least a little.) On EE you not only can’t see, in many place you are going backwards. I guess it is not so much scarier, but a better ride. Go on the ride you will love it!!
Expedition Everest is the most awesome ride at WDW. My favorite ride has always been Tower of Terror, but Everest is right up there with it. After riding it, I didn’t even care about riding Space Mountain anymore.
It’s really not scary. I liked it. The yeti is just a small part of it. You go backwards for a small part and pretty fast, but only for about 5 seconds. I really can’t compare it to space mountain. The first time I rode SM I was scared. The first time I rode everest, I wanted to get back on. I don’t know if this helps any. On a scale of 1-10 I give everest a 3 for scariness. Compared to a 5 for Tower of Terror and a 2 for space mountain.
expedition Everest is more intense, space is completely in the dark where expedition is half out side half inside, But I would say Everest is more scary! ITS SO MUCH FUN~!
I think the "scariness" of each depends on each individual rider. For example: if you are afraid of the dark, then Space Mountain is definitely scarier, this roller coaster is in complete darkness (as if you were hurtling through space!)
Expedition Everest, in my humble opinion, is the scarier as you can actually SEE what’s going on!
(however, for excitement…..NOTHING beats Rock N Roller Coaster!!! my personal fave)
I will start by saying this – I am not a "hill person". I love fast rides but I can’t take that feeling you get in your stomach when a ride goes down a big drop. That being said, these are both great rides! Neither has a big drop, so I love them. Space Mountain is just classic. I have been riding it for probably 25 years and still love it. It is fast and in the dark, and the hills are small but fun. Expedition Everest is suberbly designed and executed. It is thrilling because of the Yeti and going backwards, but again the hills are small so it is fun. If I had to choose I would choose Space Mountain, but I think every trip to Disney should include a ride on BOTH these rides!
