Disney World will be packed on Thanksgiving Day. Make sure you arrive early to try and beat the crowds and lines and FastPass the ride you want to do the most.
The holidays are always a busy time at WDW, but when you factor in the holiday falling on a Thursday it is easier for people to get away for a long weekend.
Packed…Any US federal holiday is packed and has the potential for some of the parks to fill to capacity.
I went the week of Thanksgiving 2007 (and am planning a trip in 2010 for the same week). I agree that the week was pretty much packed, but compared to Monday thru Wednesday and Friday, Thanksgiving was actually a bit lighter (we spent most of the day at DHS) than the rest of the week, but not by much.
This isn’t going to be a very good answer…just to warn you. I have no idea if it’s packed and I live here.
I have a theory, I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m sure, in my mind, that the theme parks are probably the least busy on Super Bowl Sunday. I’m gonna go this year to find out. Floridians are really into Football, and most other people enjoy having parties on that day.
If I were you, and I could change my plans, I’d go then.
Like the others have said, Thanksgiving day at any of the Walt Disney World theme parks will be packed. There are four different parks, just so you know. All of them will reach capacity around early afternoon if not before.
If you want to go to Disney around Thanksgiving time but don’t want to go when it’s packed, try the 23rd and 24th before Thanksgiving, or the Monday right after it. Sunday is when most of the Holiday crowds will leave.
