Many beginners to cruise vacations have a lot of questions. As a cruise vacation expert, I have heard and have answered all types of questions. I have created this article to answer some of the common inquiries of beginning cruisers.

Is there schedule of when we have to eat? Can I eat when I want to? Flexible meal plans allow the cruiser to dine whenever they want to. However, flexible plans have limited variety of foods and are not as elegant as the main restaurant. The benefit of a flex plan is that you don’t have to wait in lines with all the other people and you can dine with whom you want (otherwise you will have to share a table with someone).

Do I have to eat with all the other guests? Are there any alternatives? Yes, you can have an alternative dining experience, for an extra cost. Alternative dining tends to be more extravagant, quiet and romantic. You can take advantage of these services when you want to escape the noise. Make sure you have a reservation. Furthermore, you will have to pay about $15-$50 to use these services.

Should I get an outside cabin or inside cabin? What’s the difference between the two? Here’s my question to you: do you want a window to look out of or do you want to pay less and not have a window? An outside cabin has a window and sometimes a balcony. An interior cabin won’t have a window and are often decorated with artwork or covered by a large curtain. Of course, you will pay more for a room with a view!

Can I use my cell-phone on the ship? Of course you can use your cell-phone. However, you will have to pay additional fees when in roaming. Make sure to check with your cell-phone provider for roaming and carrier fees. Usually, I would recommend that you turn off your phone at sea. You will have to pay international carrier fees as cruise ships tend to use international carriers to reduce costs. You’re on vacation. You’re calls can wait for heaven’s sake!

Do cruise ships have internet access? Is it free? Cruise ships have internet access and it will cost you a lot of money to use it. Many cruise ships make a considerable amount of money from their guests by charging for wireless internet services. You can access internet from your room via laptop or from one of the internet cafes on board.
