Nothing beats being up close with wildlife. It can be an awesome and unforgettable experience seeing wildlife in their natural habitat. When it comes to wildlife, African safari vacations are quick to come to mind.
African safari vacations have become very popular and there are numerous companies that provide packages designed to bring a bit of adventure under expert supervision.
If you decide to go on an African safari adventure, you’ll be living in lodges and camps with hot showers. Your meals and barbecues would be prepared by a cook hired for your specific African safari tour.
Kenya is a popular destination for African safari vacations. There are packages that include a beach holiday. With 40 national parks and game reserves, you’ll have plenty of things to see in Kenya. For instance, you may travel to the Kimana Game Sanctuary that’s located at the foot of the famous Mount Kilimanjaro.
Two other popular national parks in Kenya are the Mount Kenya National Park, which is a rich rain forest, and Masai Mara, which consists of stretching plains. If you happen to go on one of the African safari vacations in Kenya, your guide will drive you and the other tourists either in 4×4 vehicles, open back trucks or mini buses.
For an aerial view of the landscape, there are fly/drive packages, using small, light aircraft. Kenya brings opportunities to see leopards, gazelle, crocodiles, giraffes, zebra, lions and hippos.
If you want to see a variety of landscapes — wetlands, open grassland, semi-dessert, old forest — then an African safari vacation in South Africa is the perfect vacation package for you. If you want to explore on foot, car or light aircraft, go on an African safari vacation in South Africa’s Phinda region.
There are also African safari vacation packages that include exploring South Africa by boat. Expect to see lions, buffalo, rhinos, leopards and elephants. You’ll see packs of hyenas and wild dogs, leopards and elephants when you tour the Madikwe Game Reserve.
There are also African safari packages to Uganda and Rwanda. If it’s chimpanzees and lowland gorillas you want to see, you’ll see plenty of them in Uganda. You’ll see gorillas at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
To see a variety of bird species, pick an African safari vacation that includes a tour to Uganda’s Mgahinga Volcanoes in its itinerary. You’ll see elephants, giraffes, antelopes and birds when you tour the savanna in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Another popular destination in Uganda is the Murchisson Falls National Park. The waterfall is a wonderful sight and the wildlife include baboons, warthogs and zebras.
Rwanda is famous for its mountain gorillas and there is said to be 350 of them in the tree lined slopes of the Parc National des Volcans. The Uganda and Rwanda region, with its volcanoes, falls, lakes and forests is a treasured area and offers the best chance of seeing gorillas in their natural surroundings.
