For the newly-wed couple in search of that special something as they begin their life together, Pemba the honeymoon island could just be the place to go.
Pemba is part of a 3 island archipelago together with Zanzibar and Mafia, and is without doubt one of Africa’s pristine beach safari destinations.
Why it is ideal for honeymooners?
Surrounded by the clear Indian Ocean waters, beautiful sandy beaches and the rustle of the palm trees, tranquility begins and ends on Pemba Island. It is about 80km to the north-east of Zanzibar and another 80km east of Tanzania mainland so it is largely unspoiled and uncrowded.
There is exclusive accommodation made with the honeymooners in mind at the famous Funduu Lagoon and the Manta Reef Lodge.
You will find rooms with a sea-view made from local materials and fully fitted to pamper you. Enjoy also the good food served in good dining facilities.
Activities on offer:
– private beach dinners
– sunset dhow cruises
– picnic baskets at the poolside when not dining at the main dining room
– boat rides out into the deep sea
– you can watch the whale when they call in between July and September. The dolphins are also a spectacle, and you can even get a chance to swim alongside them!
– for the enthusiast, there is also water sports like fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling
You can reach Pemba the honeymoon island either by scheduled or charter flights or by private speedboat or by ferry service from Tanzania. But there is no access by road! Truly a different way to honeymoon.
