Perhentian Islands: You could argue that when Leonardo Di Caprio chose to shoot his movie “The Beach” in Thailand, he was not familiar with the stunning Perhentian Islands! Just off the east coast of Malaysia in North East Terengganu are two islands which are known as Perhentian Islands. They are a massive hit with tourists now due to their silver sandy beaches and their crystal clear blue waters. Perhentian Islands is arguably one of the most beautiful places on this earth.
Redang Island: This is another popular diving site in Malaysia, located not so far from Perhentian. It is the largest and also the most developed among the east coast islands and it is composed of nine islands. This place is designated as a marine park where many divers can enjoy the magnificent collection of coral reefs and other underwater creatures. The waters are very clear and teeming with a variety of species so visitors will enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving.
Langkawi Island: The UNESCO has recently awarded Langkawi Islands the geopark status. It is composed of ninety-nine islands and it is the site for the most luxurious hotels in Malaysia. Around forty minutes from the city of Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi is a paradise that should be on top of your list of places to visit. Stay at the Four Seasons, The Andman, Casa de Mar and The Datai; and experience paradise in different way.
Pangkor Laut Island: Pangkor Laut Resort is a five star hotel and is voted the most romantic hotel in Malaysia. It has also received acclamation as the best hotel and best spa and that can only be found in the Pangkor Laut Island. Experience heaven while getting a spa treatment in the middle of the ocean; you can only get this if you book a treatment at the Spa Village Villa, in Pangkor Laut Resort.
Tioman Island: Another island that is well known worldwide for its gorgeous sandy beaches and beautiful clear waters, which are teaming with fish and other sea life. Great for snorkeling around the coral reefs or if you prefer to do a bit of hiking then Tioman offers this to the intrepid adventurer also.
Rawa Island: Just a few miles away from Tioman, this privately owned island showcases the most beautiful white sand and clear waters. The only downside of this place is that there is only one place for you to stay in, but it could also be a plus because it adds to the exclusivity of the Island.
Sipadan Island: Home to over three thousand underwater sea creatures, Sipadan Island is rated as one of the top five diving sites in the world. The waters are clear and the beach is lined with sandy white sand; it is located in Sabah, Borneo and is a perfect place if you wish to see barracudas, sea turtles, manta rays, and sharks.
