The Cancun area is a popular spot for gay and Lesbian travelers. It may be the beautiful beaches full of hot bodies and friendly people or the rainbow-friendly nightspots that attract them, but of all of the gay travel destinations around the world, Cancun is one of the most popular.
Xcaret, pronounced Eesh Kar Et, is definitely a location you should visit while traveling in Cancun. An amusement park has no rival when it comes to theme amusement parks.
There are no thrill rides such as 40-story drops or chains and steel dragons. No this is a nature-oriented adventure that attracts people of all ages.
You may wonder what you can do at Xcaret, although it may be easier to explain what you cannot do at Xcaret. Sure, if offers an interesting and exciting beach hang out, but you can do that nearly anywhere.
Here you can actively participate in the Xcaret adventure with helmet diving, scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming with the native dolphins. Xcaret features their infamous underground river that offers you the opportunity to snorkel in a new and unique way.
For those who are the kind that like to sightsee, Xcaret is known for its coral reef aquarium and zoo exhibits. This is great for those who like to connect with and learn about nature.
Jaguars, monkey, sea turtles, manatees, flamingos…these are just a few of the many different things that can be seen at Xcaret.
For those who want to immerse themselves in Mexican culture, there are even exhibits regarding roping and riding by Mexican cowboys (and cowgirls, of course). Also interesting are the replicas of traditional Mexican tombs, Mayan villages and a wine cellar with Mexican vintage wines.
If you desire Mexican food in Cancun, you will be delighted with the offerings of Xcaret with its 11 dining rooms. You can find authentic Mexican cuisine at each of these 11 restaurants. Some of them are famous for their less traditional yet interesting fare such as fried crickets.
Enjoying your wonderful day of adventure does not come cheap at Xcaret, since adult admission is around $69, while children pay about $35 dollars to get in on the adventure.
The Xcaret lies along the 40 miles of Cancun coastline. It offers lesbian and gay travelers and their families a wonderful place to hang out, while more than likely meeting up with members of the rainbow family is very possible.
