When most folk think about having an England vacation they frequently just think about resorts by the seaside such as Torquay, Bognor Regis, Clacton-on-Sea and Eastbourne. Occasionally folk may think about taking a vacation in a specific English county for example Devon in the south of England but not very often do they debate having a vacation in the city of Exeter. The following article discusses various factors why an Exeter vacation is a wise idea.

The very first reasons for having a break in Exeter is that the accommodation is reasonably priced with bed and breakfast accommodation in Exeter available from roughly 25 per night and lots of places around the 40 – 50 ballpark.

Obviously there should be more than a low price to interest you to stay in a city and Exeter definitely has plenty to offer the potential tourist. You will discover that there are many excellent tourist attractions in the city center and even more near by and if this isn’t enough then the city of Plymouth is pretty close and you will discover that there is also cheap Plymouth bed and breakfast and even more brilliant visitor attractions. Plus you will find that there are plenty of astounding places to visit all along the nearby coast.

Where To Stay In Exeter

The Drewe Arms This hotel is superb, the rooms are reasonably priced but the building itself is a charming 17th century thatched inn on the famous Two Moors Way (a walkers route). Sadly it is 15m from the city center. If you need more luxury the inn also has four-poster rooms available.

The Crawford Hotel This hotel accommodation is lots closer to the city center, just over one and a half kilometers. It is a two star establishment with comfortable en suite rooms and, importantly, twenty four hour access to your room, superb if you are planning on a late night or need access during the day. If required there is Free wireless internet access available in public areas of the hotel.

Places To Visit

In the city of Exeter there are only a small number of tourist attractions worth a visit including; the Royal Albert Museum, Rougemont Castle and St Peter’s Cathedral. As mentioned earlier there is a small number of close by seaside resorts to see the best being the old-fashioned villages of Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton.

Further away, in between Plymouth and Exeter is the virtually unpopulated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the general area having a fair few visitor attractions worth a visit including Buckland Abbey, Buckfast Abbey and A La Ronde on the main route, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass the Torbay area, which includes Torquay, Brixham and Paignton and is frequently referred to as the English Riviera.

Exeter truly is a superb place in which to take a vacation however why not debate having a 2 destination vacation and spend a few of days in a really nice Plymouth hotel and travel around the gorgeous coast and countryside in between these two superb vacation destinations?
