A stay at one of the many fine Anglesey cottages on this beautiful North Wales island offers the visitor a perfect base from which to explore many natural attractions.

You know that you have chosen a great sunny location for your self-catering holiday cottage in Anglesey because the island gets its reputation for a pleasant climate due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream.

Whether you are a very active person looking for water sports adventure, cycling or walking or just want a restful break with friends or family, the island has a broad range of cottages which suite most tastes.

Some Anglesey cottages will be renovated smallholdings or converted stables which allow the island visitor to experience living in a property style that is traditional and blends in with the environment.

A cottage stay will mean you’ll enjoy the benefits of a solid stone fireplace in the lounge or dining room, as well as sitting in a kitchen which has floor tiles and a wood burning stove.

Most holiday cottages in Anglesey will have a central heating system and many will have double glazing to improve insulation.

Some cottages will have en-suite bedrooms, which may depend on the number of people it can accommodate, and there will be both ground and first floor bedrooms, single and twin beds.

Expect most cottages on Anglesey to provide the necessary bed linen and duvets as well as a full complement of kitchenware. Most have a utility room and satellite TV access.

It may be possible for you to bring your pets with you to Anglesey, as some cottage holiday providers allow this, on condition that the animals are under control.

No doubt you were looking for a place to get away from the stress of a busy lifestyle. When you choose an Anglesey holiday cottage you are making a choice of where you want to enjoy your rest, by the sea or inland.

What a tonic it would be to get out of bed, wander across to the garden patio as the morning sun is rising, stretching your arms out, taking in the fresh sea air, seeing the Snowdonia range in the east, and tasting the sharp freshly made black coffee.

Let’s say you are woken up by the dawn chorus in midsummer, you could pop to the kitchen to make yourself a cup of tea and step onto the patio and watch the sun rise over the mountain peaks on the mainland.

Your Anglesey cottage base allows you to go for a spot of cycling along the nearby country lanes, looking out for some of fascinating wildlife, smelling the freshly cut grass, wild garlic, lavender, and just absorbing yourself into the immediate countryside.

The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is the official title of a section of land running along the Anglesey coast and you could choose to stay in a holiday cottage here.

Its great to combine sea and mountain views with walking the coast and adventurous sports such as surfing. There are great 18 hole golf courses near many island cottages.

For those of you who love the outdoors and walking specifically, remember to bring your boost as there is a recently opened 125-mile coastal path with breathtaking sea views.

Choosing a cottage on the south west Anglesey coast means you may enjoy a particularly beautiful sunset where you may be able to make out the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland on the distant horizon.

It can be such a pleasure to watch the slow descent of the sun over the horizon, while sharing a glass of wine in your cottage with family and friends.

When you reach Anglesey after crossing the Menai Strait you can cross the island using the A55 dual carriageway to Holyhead, from where a fast ferry runs to Dublin. At RAF Valley you can fly to Cardiff within one hour.

So whether it is for an Anglesey holiday winter break when you can walk across quiet coastal paths and long sandy beaches or to enjoy the summer sunshine, choosing one of the quality Anglesey cottages is a great way to experience this pleasant, green island.
