New York Giants and another Super Bowl win?

May 29, 2009 by Matt Ryan · Leave a Comment

The New York Giants have a talent, not only for playing amazing football, but for entertaining fans as well. There is something about being at a Giants game – or even watching it on TV – that gets electricity flowing from one person to the next. From the beginning of the career in the NFL, New York Giants tickets have sold at record breaking numbers, and 2009 will be no different.

The majority of home games are played in front of a stadium that is overflowing with people with hardly any room to move. Fans love their Giants, and make it a point to be at every home game to cheer them on. Even when the Giants were part of the AFL, tickets sold like hot cakes, and fans poured in from every crevice.

The Giants started playing football in 1925 after the team was purchased by Tim Mara who only paid $500 for the team. The following year was spent investing $25,000 in the team to make them worth keeping around. Finally it was time for them to play their first game against, none other than the Chicago Bears. The Giants were the underdog, at this game, as the Bears were a much more powerful team. Therefore, you can imagine what a shock it was when they defeated the Bears and walked away a bit taller.

Over the course of history, the Giants have become legends in professional football. Numerous players have ended their careers in the Hall of Fame, many of which played only for the Giants, and not other pro team. Some of these players are names anyone would recognize, like Alphonse Leemans, Roosevelt Brown, Morris Badgro, Lawrence Taylor, and Tom Landry.

In 1925, their first season, the team won 11 of their scheduled games, leaving only one loss and one tie game for the record books. Shortly thereafter, in 1927, they won their first NFL Championship, which they stole from the Chicago Bears with an ending score of 13-7. This game was, and still is, a proud moment for the Giants, and a bit of an embarrassment for the Bears.

The New York Giants has, and probably always will be, a family run and operated business. Over the years, the team has accomplished many record breaking moves, and won an exuberant number of scheduled games. Their drive is nowhere near burnt out, and will not be for some time to come.

In 1933, when division play was part of the game, the Giants won eight division titles. In ’34, and again in ’38, the team won NFL Championship titles as well. By 1963, they were able to claim another NFL Championship and six more division titles to their ledger of accomplishments. To top it off, division titles were won again in ’86, ’89, and ’90.

In the recent season of ’07, the Giants brought home the Super Bowl Championship ring. As if they didn’t have enough fans, and tickets did not already sell out, this win increased everything for the team – ticket sales, fans, profits, etc. With the ’09 season quickly approaching, fans and football fanatics alike are already making plans to attend every Giants game this year!

New York Jets are on their way to victory

May 16, 2009 by Matt Ryan · Leave a Comment

The AFC Eastern Division houses many great football teams with the New York Jets being one of them. The Jets, currently, do not have a stadium they can call home as they are sharing a stadium, in Rutherford, New Jersey, with the New York Giants. However, the opening game of the 2010 season will be held in the anxiously awaited new stadium – the Meadowlands Stadium. Either way, Jets fans anxiously await the ’09 season as they have already began purchasing tickets before spring training has even begun.

Prior to the AFL/NFL merger, the New York Jets were a member of the AFL, in 1960; at which time they were known as the New York Titans. During this time, in their career, the Jets did not have too many fans. They played in Polo Grounds stadium, where many seats were left empty at home games. The formerly known Titans played well; they just were not attracting a fan base.

New ownership took over in 1963, which is when the name of the team changed to the New York Jets. At this time, the new owners moved the team to Shea stadium, where they began to attract attention and fans began to gather.

With a new home and name the team began to play as a team; they began breaking records and winning games like you wouldn’t believe. In fact, they were the first AFL team ever to beat an NFL team for a championship title, which happened in Super Bowl 3.

It was during this time – the 60s – that Namath – one of the most infamous quarterbacks in the history of football – played for the jets and let them to numerous victories. In fact, Namath – once a member of the Jets – was the first quarterback ever to throw a 4000-yard season! The season of ’67 was a phenomenal year for the team, Namath hit his throwing record this year, and he ended their season with an 8-5-1 record. In 1969, Namath carried the Jets to an AFL Championship Title over the Oakland Raiders.

It was at this juncture, in football history, that the AFL began to become a threat to the NFL. Namath, prior to their Super Bowl win, actually had the nerve to guarantee the win to their loving fans. It was this game, a 16-7 win over the Colts, that got the Jets their first Super Bowl win, and the beginning of what would prove to be a very successful football team.

That was Namath’s last year with the Jets, as he had severe knee injuries and had to retire. Until recently, the has struggled to wind championship titles and break records. In 2008, the Jets traded their own quarterback for none other than Brett Favre. This trade is what brought the Jets back to life!

Brett Favre has done some amazing things for the team, including leading them to victory once again. Players began to improve upon their weaknesses, and fans got excited again when they saw the wins flowing in. With a new season approaching, fans are excited about a possible title win; so much so, that season tickets are already gone, leaving few one-off seats for stragglers.

Wynn Las Vegas is home of Le Reve – A Small Collection of Imperfect Dreams. This fascinating, aw striking, show has become so popular, tickets are nearly impossible to get your hands on. Le Reve debuted in 2005 and continually entrances audiences with its provocative allure and seductive music. The story, behind the beauty, is the struggle to understand the nature of good and evil.

Le Reve performs on a circular stage with three waterfall entrances. These entrances, along with the shape of the stage, allow audiences to see the performers enter onto the stage from any seat. It also offers an relationship between performer and audience like no other stage does.

The stage actually transforms in order to allow for stunning aerial and aquatic aerobics. The transformation allows performers to perform stunts at heights that are nearly unbelievable along with underwater. This transformation can also be seen from anywhere in the audience.

There is a special only VIP Indulgence Package that gives consumers a little extra touch with their experience. This package, while limited to 100 per show, gives you VIP seating with extra plush chairs, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries. Additionally, you can enjoy behind the scenes activities with a monitor that is provided for your convenience. You will enjoy a fascinating show regardless, but this is a great package for pampering yourself and / or a loved one.

You do not have to have a VIP package to have a phenomenal view of the show. The seating is arranged in a circular shape, which completely surrounds the 1-million gallon aquatic stage. The maximum distance you will ever be, from the stage, is 30-40 feet.

The aquatic and aerial aerobics, in Le Reve, are beyond breathtaking. These talented performers have spent hundreds of disciplined hours perfecting their skills. The heights at which they perform loops and spins are scarily high and they do them without ropes or protective harnesses. You will – without a doubt – hear audience members gasp throughout the performance.

Many of these performers were once Olympic competitors, which is one of the reasons for the extreme discipline the performers have. (This type of show could not be pulled off without such discipline.) The combination of moves, perfection, and costumes shows the human form in one of the most striking manners ever seen. Producers, troupe, and choreographers are perfectionists; even though the show is already a hit, they are continuously perfecting moves and stunts and pushing the performers to work harder. Because of this, there is a high chance that you could get a different show each time you see it.

Franco Dragone is a legend due to many of his other productions; productions like “O” and “Mystere”. Le Reve is Dragone’s third production, and it has definitely made him the talk of the town.
