Camps in Kenya – The Mara Timbo

The camp is german run, located belowe the oloololo escarpment bordering the Mara River and sitting on the edge of the Masai Mara Game reserve. The region between the Mara River and the Esoit Oloolo form expansive rolling plains and provide a great sight to view animals in their natural habitat.
The camp offers 5-star standard in accommodation, cuisine, wilderness experience, game drives and cultural knowledge. The seven luxury tents are spacious with en-suite bathrooms, African blended interior dcor, private veranda with outdoor bathtub and luxury sitting area. Grass thatched roofing, providing cool temperatures during the day.
The facilities in the tent include a king-size bed, a safe deposit, a bathroom with double sinks, hot and cold shower, flush toilet, 220/240volt power supply and amenities for use by the guests. There is a lot of space so privacy is guaranteed. Also the tents are very romantic and stylish. A personal butler is assigned to each tent to provide room service. The butlers are female, well trained and apart from room service, they are well informed about the Camp, Masai Mara and nature in general.
Mara Timbo Camp has a restaurant spread on three little restaurant islands. Clients have a choice between three menus with three courses each, one of them vegetarian. Candlelit dinner is organized at around a big campfire and under the stars. There is a lounge and a bar set centrally in the lounge area. The lounge dcor is tasteful with cosy lounge chairs, artwork from the locals with a well stocked reference library.
The Mara Timbo camp has a Message Tree- house that ensures visitors are provided with refreshing and professional body message with aromatherapy based oils. The message tree house has a stunning view of the Mara River where one can see the hippos milling around.
Animal’s sightings in this camp are an everyday, normal occurrence. You will not fail to see the two families of hippos that inhabit the Mara River from the very comfort of your lounge. Nature walks, night drives, bird watching, and cultural drives can be organized. The Masai Mara National park is laden with animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, leopards, lions. This and many other species of animals make it interesting to look out for the wild game.
The camp operates a well stocked gift shop located near the main area. The stocks include films, souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, Masai beadwork crafted by local Masai women. Other suppliers for the gift shop include Kenya kanga, Marula studios and Kenya beads.
The Masai Mara isa 40 minute flight away from Nairobi Wilson airport. The Mara Timbo is located near the Oloololo gate of Masai National Reserve and the kichwa Tembo Tembi airstrip. Guests have the option of being picked up at the Kichwa Tembo airstrip and transferred to the camp. The drive to the camp is a first hand experience of the Mara, you get not only to ogle at the scenery but the animals also.
Dar es Salaam Tanzania – Safari Travel Destination Information

Dar es Salaam is found on a huge harbor on the eastern coast of Indian Ocean, Dar es Salaam exudes an atmosphere of peace with its clean beaches and neighborhoods that are bustling with activity. The city’s ever busy harbor is the main port in Tanzania, the main international airport in Tanzania is also found in this city; Julius Nyerere International Airport – situated only 13km from the city center.
Visitors interested in visiting this lovely and breathtaking country require to be vaccinated to facilitate safe travel within the country. The visitors who travel to Tanzania from Yellow fever prone areas are required to obtain Yellow Fever international Certificate of Vaccination. Though visitors from non endemic regions like Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand are exempted. To the North western region of Tanzania is a high risk area for yellow fever. Malaria is a common ailment in Tanzania and visitors intending to pay a visit to this majestic country are advised to take anti malarial medication at least two weeks before they travel. Vaccination against hepatitis A, Polio and Typhoid are also recommended.

Dar es Salaam can be accessed via regional hubs from Nairobi in neighboring Kenya, Johannesburg in South Africa and to a lesser degree Addis Ababa. The airport is also accessed through other Tanzania airports that handle domestic as well as international flights. These are the Kilimanjaro International Airport and Dodoma airport and a few more. There is also a ferry service operating between Mombasa in Kenya and Dar es Salaam.
Tourists visiting Dar es Salaam are should note that taxis ferrying passengers within the city have no meters and charge a standard fee per journey inside the city centre that is negotiable. As for the ferry service to Zanzibar, one has a selection to choose from- a hydrofoil, a catamaran and 2 ordinary ferry boats. A port charge of USD 5 is added to the boat fare. Yellow fever vaccination certification must be produced before boarding for Zanzibar.
And like the rest of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam never really gets cold and light clothing is recommended. Average daily temperatures hover in the 30C range with October to March being the hottest period. Warmer clothing such as sweaters is however necessary to get you through the evenings and early mornings if you are heading for the highlands. Short sleeve shirts, shorts and trouser for men are sufficient and so are short sleeve blouses, slacks and skirts for the ladies.
Dar es Salaam has an impressive resume of historical landmarks, including St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the White Father’s Mission House, the Botanical Gardens, the old State House and the National Museum. The Lutheran Church is most likely the oldest building in the city, a reminder of the rich Christian heritage of Tanzania that dating back into the 18th century when the first missionaries visited Tanzania.
Nearly all visitors to Dar es Salaam end up taking a southern Tanzania tour to Mikumi, Udzungwa, Ruaha and Selous game reserves – one of the seven UNESCO World Heritage sites in the country.

The Mara Timbo camp is a seven tent affair that is rated 5-star in accommodation, wilderness experience and cultural knowledge. The tents are easy to move around in, en-suite with bathrooms, dcor theme is African, private veranda having an out door bath tub and luxury sitting area. The tents are grass thatched ensuring the tents interior remain cool al day long.
Each individual tent is a work of art which houses a king size bed, a safe deposit, a bathroom, double sinks, hot and cold shower, flush toilet, 220/240 volt power supply plus host of other amenities used by visitors. The tents are lauded for their privacy and space that gives ine room to move around easily. At the beck and call of each tent is a well trained, professional female butler who provides room service, and gives informative titbits about the camp, Masai Mara and nature.

Masai Mara is 40 minutes by flight from Nairobi Wilson Airport. The camp is near Oloololo gate of Masai Mara National Reserve, and Kichwa Tembo Airstrip. Guests can be picked at Kichwa Tembo airstrip and transferred to the camp – the drive to the camp, a safari on it’s on with various sightings of antelopes, elephants and probably the ‘big cats’ and birds.
