Taking A Look At San Diego Hotel Rooms And Their Quality
December 7, 2009 by Josh Krundle · Leave a Comment
Understanding San Diego hotel rooms and their quality — especially when the time has come to visit San Diego — can be necessary though it can also be wasn’t to look up and see where any of these hotel rooms are located in the San Diego area. The region that encompasses San Diego is known as San Diego County, and it runs for many miles in at least three directions (North, South and East).
While one might not think of there being much to the west of San Diego itself, this isn’t exactly true. Indeed, several very luxurious hotels lie just across the bay over in Coronado. This town is also located right next to the Navy’s SEAL commando training school and several of its commando teams. For sure, the Pacific coastline and the presence of the training school help to attract a lot of visitors.
Much of the Pacific coastline that runs from the south of San Diego through the town and then to the north is populated with a number of excellent franchise hotels and independent facilities that are of high quality and luxury. None of these are going to be very inexpensive because of their locations, but the rates may be worth it considering the kind of service that each of them specializes in.
Fortunately, for the business traveler, there are a number of very fine franchise hotels scattered all throughout the city, down by the airport and all points east and north. For example, one of the major freeways running in town and to the east features a mile-long stretch of hotels, quality restaurants and shopping opportunities. One could do worse than to stay in this area.
The harbor area of the city is also populated with excellent hotels, many of which are franchise and of good character with prices that are relatively reasonable. Most offer rooms that are available throughout the year, with prices that vary according to the season. Summer is the most expensive time while winter — outside of Christmas — is generally more reasonable.
Within the downtown areas of the city there are also a number of very nice hotels. From downtown is a short stroll over to Balboa Park, which has several franchise type facilities as well as small independent facilities that are more bed and breakfast in character. Keep in mind that coming into the airport and staying near to it might work best all when visiting San Diego, though.
Just outside the city itself, to the north and east, is what locals refer to as North County. A number of hotel chains have set up business there, and the reasons are obvious; the area features beautiful locales and Lake Miramar, a picturesque reservoir with excellent walking and biking paths. Over to the west is the rich enclave of La Jolla, home of a number of luxurious hotels.
Anywhere one decides to find a hotel room in San Diego or in its surrounding environs it’s a sure bet that success will ensue. Certainly, there should be no problem in finding excellent hotel facilities ready and available at almost every time of year, with some being independent while others are part of franchise hotels. Some are of extreme luxury, so or member that fact when looking for rooms.

Find San Diego Hotel Rooms Best For You

Considerations involving locating San Diego hotel rooms easily and efficiently often arise when the time has come to visit the town that bills itself as “America’s Finest City.” When looking at the location of the city and all of the attractions it offers, it’s easy to see why San Diego is often looked at as a particularly beautiful area of beauty and vibrancy in California.
Actually, there’s a lot more to San Diego then the city alone. Surrounding it in every direction — and easily accessible via roads and highways — are many very nice communities that host a number of extremely nice hotels. The city has a range of influence that extends south to Mexico and North to Orange County, as well as to many areas in the east and even to the west of the city.
Hotel rooms in San Diego generally differ from motel style rooms, many of which can be found along the several interstates and state roads that run all through the San Diego area and San Diego County, in general. Usually, they’re a bit pricier than those motels, with a great many national chain upper-tier hotels available in many parts of the city. It will all depend on where in the city the hotel is needed.
For those more interested in a vacation or in some touring or sightseeing, and price is no object, the Hotel Del Coronado, over in Coronado, is the logical choice. Situated right on the Pacific Ocean and at the northwestern end of Coronado’s Silver Strand highway (which runs right past the U. S. Navy’s SEAL Team training school), the “Hotel Del, ” as it’s called, is a jewel in the city.
Other nice hotel rooms in San Diego can be found down by the harbor or over near Balboa Park, which is home to the world famous San Diego Zoo. Hotels are plentiful near the downtown area and near Pacific Coast Highway, which runs from the city all the way north for hundreds of miles. Depending on why San Diego is being considered for a stay (tourism, business) a hotel near the highway may make sense.
Generally speaking, San Diego hotel rooms can also be found in great number in many of these cities and towns that ring San Diego. Two such towns that lay to the north up the interstate are Del Mar and Carlsbad. Both have spectacular shoreline and several very nice hotels, with Del Mar also being the home of the famous horse racing venue of the same name.
Outside San Diego just to the north and west are the communities of Miramar and Kearny Mesa. Miramar, at one time, hosted the Miramar Naval Air Station, once the home of the U. S. Navy’s Top Gun fighter pilot combat training school, made famous in the 1986 movie starring Tom Cruise. From this area, just had east over to beautiful La Jolla, a somewhat rich enclave on the coast that is part of San Diego.
Wherever the search for San Diego hotel rooms ends up, the sure fact will be that any hotel room in San Diego is bound to be very nice, especially among those hotels that are somewhat historic and luxurious, such as what is found over at the Hotel Del Coronado. Hotels abound in every direction, including in the north of the city and along the coastline.
