Do Players Even Want To Play For New York’s Ridiculous Fans

You would have a hard time finding fans that are more into their sports than New York football fans. These fans are widely known as being the toughest to please. They aren’t content unless their favorite New York team is playing for the top spot every single year. Ask someone like one of the famous professional athletes who has left about it. New York fans are really ruthless.
Under good management the Giants have had a nice run in the playoffs in recent years. The fans have enough to cheer about. The questions surrounding Eli Manning have been answered. I just can’t understand what the fuss is all about. You’ve got a well coached team that always seems to be in the running come playoff time.
Then New York has the lousy New York Jets. The fans have every reason to be mad at this football organization. They let their best performing players go to rival teams and then bring in a bunch of under performers. They bring coaching personnel in but don’t keep them around long enough to develop anything positive. I guess the mindset around NFL team ownership doesn’t put much faith behind the term perseverance. If they did, you would see more teams building long term successful track records.
One other big time powder keg within the New York sports groups is the up and down New York Yankees. With that much money being allocated to acquire baseballs best hitters it is easy to see why Yankee fans get upset after a poor season. There are unrealistic expectations created when that kind of money is involved.
Some people opt to cheer for the other major New York baseball team. Mets fans don’t need to worry about the things that weigh on Yankee fans. They are fans of a different caliber. The Mets are more consistent than their Yankee brethren. The fans know what to expect. They hope for a pennant but don’t expect one every stinking year. Even though fans are excitable there is less complaining involved than compared to the Yankees.
There are a bunch of ice hockey fans in the Big Apple as well. Fans have the Islanders and the Rangers to get excited about. For a New York sports organization, neither one of these hockey clubs are perennially great. They have their up and down years just like any other hockey team. If NHL hockey was as popular here as it is in Canada, I’m certain you would see some really large budgets come out of those two teams.
The Knicks give the New York fans plenty to be happy about just about every year. Like every other New York fan, they want the Knicks were playing for the NBA championship every year. Most seasons they are pretty good compared to other NBA cities. I suppose one reason for that is New York City’s ability to attract people to move there. People, especially rich people, love to live in or near New York. There are so many awesome benefits to living here. One of those benefits is having excellent sports teams to cheer for in every major sport.
