What is a good hotel in Las Vegas for families with young children?

We are taking a family trip to Las Vegas, but are unsure of what hotel would be the best for us. We want one with a great pool, but not too outrageous in price. We thought about the Mandalay Bay, but weren’t too sure about how kid friendly they were. We prefer the strip since it will be my mom’s first time to Vegas. Thanks for your suggestions. :)

    >>Good family hotel, on the strip with a great pool<<

Excalibur wins in every measurable way.

    Rooms
The Rooms at Excalibur are much nicer

    Location
Excalibur has one of the very best locations, Circus Circus is located at the far north end of the strip, it’s a long walk to most of the interesting sights.

    Family atmosphere
    Not even close…

    Midway
The Fantasy Faire Midway at Excalibur is much nicer that the midway at Circus Circus

The only things I can think of that Circus Circus has that’s better than the Excalibur is their Steakhouse, which is one of the very best anywhere. And the Adventuredome is a fun visit for older kids.

The Excalibur has a very nice pool area for the entire family..

The pool at Circus Circus is average at best.

Some fun things for the family:

    Kids attractions

Aquarium – Silverton – thur through sun from 2pm-7pm they have mermaids and you can watch divers feed the rays.
    Volcano – Mirage
Lion Habitat – MGM – Photo with lion cub($)

Fun attractions that won’t break the bank
M&M World – next to MGM – free movie
Lied Childrens Discovery Museum – 100 or so "hands on" exhibits

    Shows that are family friendly
Tournament of Kings – Excalibur >great dinner show
    Mac King – Harrah’s
Xtreme Magic – Tropicana >White tigers

Mandalay Bay is the least kid friendly I think.

It’s boring, the inside is strangely like the inside of lows hardwear or something, and last time I checked, it was expensive. Also, it’s very far from the strip. You have to wait for the little shuttle thing everytime you want to go anywhere or take a cab.

Try the Excalibur (the castle themed hotel) or the Luxor (the egyptian themed hotel), or Circus Circus (circus themed hotel). Kids know these themes, which makes it fun for them.

Also, the Monte Carlo has a really fun pool, with a wave pool, a lazy river (like where the water runs like a river and you can ride in tubes and stuff), and just plain regular pools. I think they’re might have been a waterslide too, idk, that was a while ago.

Personally, though, Vegas is not currently a place for young children. All the casinos are low on income, and they’re not spending any extra money. Extra money, is money spent on attractions for kids. They want 21+, drinking till they’re drunk, and gramblers. They are not interested in family vacations, not in this economy.

Try another place. Maybe disneyland. That’s enjoyable for everyone.

Circus, Cirus, since you are so close to the children’s fun anyways. Plus, their rooms are very affordable these days.

As a kid whose been to Vegas many times, I have stayed at Palace station mostly. But, I love going to Texas Station where they had a Bowling ally and I think a movie theater. Circus circus is a must stop by though, sooo much fun. Also, Red Rock is so cool, I’ve never stayed there, but enjoyed all they had to offer there

i went there with my parents when i was about 12…. we stayed in the flamingo…. all you have to do is pay for a couple of movies on the motel room tv, lock them in the room and travel down 20 stories to the action

Circus Circus has all kinds of kids stuff there

    Definitely circus circus.

  11. Michael M says:

Luxor is next MB and has a great kids pool. WAs there in 2004. The kids had a great time, it is separate from the adult area. But they are close so you can keep an eye on the young one. Hilton was suggested as well. That is a great place to have a vaction. And do not forget to take the kids to Circus Circus during the visit.

Either Excalibur or Circus Circus. But stay away from the buffet if you stay @ Circus Circus. It makes Hometown/Old Country buffet look like a gormuet meal.

  13. Gene D says:

    Circus Circus.

Circus Circus was designed for travelers with kids. The best place here. It is not Disneyland but has things to do for kids of all ages.
