It depends where you are coming from but Mt. Charleston is about a half hour drive from the north west part of the valley.
you can go to mt charleston
and it takes more or less 45 minutes
Mt Charleston with Lee Canyon or Kyle Canyon is about 60 minutes drive from Vegas
Drive northwest about 35 miles to Mt. Charleston.
