November 8, 2009 by Soretooth Houndsdigger · Leave a Comment
As soon as you board your Hawaiian cruise you will find what seems to be an unending array of things to see and do. Exotic restaurants incredible shows and fun activities ensure that boredom is kept at bay while on the ship. Stops in ports such as Kauai Maui Hilo and Kona will keep you busy while on shore. The weather is excellent year round and you should find plenty to do from shopping to water sports to sight seeing to enjoying the beaches.
Hawaii is our 50th state yet has its own unique flavor. Although originally settled somewhere around 700 AD it reflects the character of many different cultures. Each island in the chain has a different feel but all retain the spirit of Aloha. The Hawaiian people are legendary for its hospitality and kindness.
The state of Hawaii is comprised of many smaller islands that all have a unique flavor with different sites. While on the island of Hawaii you might want to visit the Kilauea crater. Be on the look out for the fire goddess Pele who is said to inhabit this extraordinary natural wonder. Honolulu is a paradise for those who enjoy great nature. Maui has amazing water sites.
Most people think sun and beaches when they start packing for their Hawaiian cruise. But look beyond your swimsuit when filling your suitcase. Even though youll spend a fair amount of time on the beach you will enjoy other activities as well.
Of course bring along some flip flops and some shorts. But bring along a long sleeved shirt and perhaps a pair of slacks. You may be surprised to run into cooler temperatures. A small amount of planning can help you to avoid being surprised by inclement weather. Certainly sun protection and a good book are also a must. And don’t forget to bring a camera and perhaps your ipod as well.
It’s always good to remember that while at sea good health care will be limited. Especially so if the cruise ship will be taking extended stretches in the open sea. In case of an emergency make sure that you bring along extra supplies of your important medications. Don’t forget to confirm with your physician that your regular medications will not react poorly to any types of sea sickness pills.
Although there is oodles of fun things to do on your Hawaiian vacation it is important to pace yourself and not to exceed your limits. Use common sense and only bring those medications you need to have. You will want to make sure that you are able to appreciate everything your vacation has to offer. Bring your basics and have a great time.
Keep in mind that there is a wide range of activities both on board your ship as well as in port so remember to research what each Hawaiian cruise package has to offer you and your family. So you enjoy your Hawaiian cruise make sure to do a little research on what activities and sites you wish to take in. Given the wide array of packages available you should have no trouble finding one that fits the needs of your family. Even the seasoned cruiser will still be surprised by what there is to offer. The moment you book your Hawaiian cruise vacation you will be guaranteed to enjoy fun people exquisite food and unforgettable attractions.

Fabulous Lanai Hotels
October 24, 2009 by William Rose · Leave a Comment
The Hawaiian island of Lanai is one of the diminutive and exclusive islands. During most of the twentieth century Lanai was comprised by locals and workers of the largest pineapple plantation in the known world.
When the economics of cultivating pineapples on Lanai collapsed in the early 1980s the Dole Company sold most of the land on the island to the Castle & Cook Corporation. The new owner proceeded to transform Lanai into an exclusive tourist destination.
Currently Lanai hosts three hotels. The Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay, located on top of the cliffs above the beach, is the only Lanai hotel located on or near the beach. The Four Seasons Lodge at Koele is located among beautiful gardens and pines near the top of the highest point of the island. The Hotel Lanai, a picturesque plantation style hotel, is located in the middle of Lanai City along with the main population of Lanai.
The Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay combines dazzling Asian and Mediterranean features with the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. Perched on the red lava cliffs above Hulopoe Beach, the hotel boasts the best beach for swimming, surfing, and snorkeling on Lanai. The Manele Bay is the most luxurious of the hotels on Lanai with its large hand painted murals, its many exotic gardens and oriental antiques.
The Four Seasons Lodge at Koele, located 8 miles from the ocean, is at an elevation of 1700 feet. This hotel is located amidst the forest of Cook Pines and was designed to resemble an old hunting lodge. The Lodge at Koele is in fact the largest wooden building in the whole of Hawaii. The hotel is probably the most novel of the hotels on Lanai.
Radiating charming old world European splendor, the large stone fireplaces, high beam ceilings, large old rugs and over stuffed antique furniture, The Lodge is easily as lavish as any hotel. It is encased by rolling hills, expansive lawns, gardens and is also home to one of the two championship golf courses on the island, The Experience at Koele.
The Hotel Lanai was around long before the other two Lanai hotels. The hotel was originally built to house guests and executives of the Dole Corporation. Renovated in 1994, the Hotel Lanai offers guests a clean comfortable stay in a period style plantation hotel located right in the center of Lanai City. Whichever hotel on Lanai you choose, you will feel right at home with the locals and the staff on Lanai. The people of Lanai are incredibly gracious and helpful and will let you know that they are genuinely glad you chose Lanai, their island, to spend your time your time and your money.
One thing is guaranteed no matter which of the Lanai hotels you choose to stay in; you will definitely feel at home because of the welcoming locals of Lanai. The employees of the hotels and the local people are all very helpful and warm, letting it be known how happy they are that you chose Lanai for your vacation.
Holly Hunter is excited about traveling to exotic locations and writing on interesting hotels. The authors latest work can be seen at Lanai Hotels. Also, find out why the Manele Bay is one of the 5 top resorts in Hawaii!
