Pinar del Ro: The Most Beautiful Landscapes In Cuba.
December 21, 2009 by Jose Mauricio Maurette · Leave a Comment
Not many locations in Cuba display as much natural magnificence as Pinar del Rio. Set apart by the nature, this region hosts two of the six World Reservations of the Biosphere in the Cuba.
The appeal of its flora and fauna add up to the pleasant appearance of the district, and for sure is the land of the most excellent tobacco in the Planet. Pinar del Rio is a targeted holiday destination in Cuba for those looking for direct contact with Mother Nature.
Near to the city and in traffic to the Viales Valley, the Aguas Claras Villa stands out for its distinctive features and it is lifted in the lands of an old and beautiful property in the tropical countryside.
This land is an important artists’ cradle. Illustrious son of this county was Cirilo Villaverde, author of the most important Cuban novel in the XIX century, “Cecilia Valdes”, considered one of the great Cuban writers of all times. The music and the plastic arts, on the other hand, have big exponents like the composer Pedro Rush; author of the well-known piece “Nosotros” and the contemporary painter Pedro Pablo Oliva.
The most common festivity in the area is the so called guateque, rural party that is always taking place around pig being roasted in spike. During the celebration participants sing songs and recite poetry something that people from Pinar del Rio are very famous for.
If you want to visit Pinar del Rio in your holidays in Cuba, you can fly to Havana and then take a transfer to this area. It is located at about 160 kms far from Havana and it takes about 2 hours by road. There are no international or domestic airports in this province so flying directly is not an option. There is although the chance to arrive by boat to the Marinas located in Cayo Levisa and Maria La Gorda.
The most famous and I would also say most beautiful part of Pinar del Rio is Viales Valley. This place has the most amazing mountain formations and most colorful valleys in Cuba. There are few accommodation facilities in the area precisely for not to spoil the natural environment. Among the best are Los Jasmines Hotel, La Ermita and Rancho San Vicente Cottages.
I will always recommend a visit to Pinar del Rio province, especially if you are the kind of tourist that likes to get to know the real country. I would say that including in your holidays to Cuba a stay in this territory will definitely be the high light of your holiday experience in Cuba.

Twin Centre Holidays To Cuba.
December 21, 2009 by Jose Garces · Leave a Comment
I am going to assume that you are already looking at alternatives for your Cuba holidays so I am not going to spend many lines trying to convince you what a good idea is to go to Cuba. You have probably made already a very wise decision and are looking at options for your holidays in Cuba that will be suitable for you.
What Cuba has to offer in terms of tourism can not be found in many places in the world. This fascinating island is the biggest in the Caribbean Sea and has definitely been blessed by nature. Mountain range, large valleys, rivers and lakes and of beautiful turquoise water beaches make its geography one to enjoy. But there is more to it than its landscape. Cuba has a very unique culture, a stunning colonial architecture, and impressive history one of the most talked about political system in Latin America.
If you are looking to mainly relax after a hard long period of work and at the same time let your self been invaded by the Cuban culture then I would suggest you do a twin centre holiday. There are many options and I will mention in this article which in my opinion are the most interesting ones.
Havana and Varadero: Ideal formula for people who are not willing to travel long ours along the road. Both cities are only few miles away from each other and they can be connected in less than 2 hours by taxi. Havana is recommended for at least 2 or 3 nights so that you can get to see and enjoy what this amazing city has to offer. Varadero is considered by many one of the best beach destinations in the world. It certainly is the most famous in Cuba and it offers a wealth of activities such as swimming with dolphins, rides in a submarine, horse back riding and all sorts of water sports.
Havana and Cayo Largo: This one in my opinion is a very attractive combination. You will be arriving to Havana’s airport and after staying few nights in Havana you will be transferred to the airport very early in the morning to fly to Cayo Largo. Why bother taking a domestic flight? Well let me tell you that Cayo Largo has in my opinion the best and most virgin beaches out of all the beach destinations in Cuba. You can also find a wealth of wild life cohabiting with the few hotels that exists in this small island.
Havana and Cayo Ensenachos: Cayo Ensenachos is located in the very center of the island on the north coast and it is a perfect hide away destination. Its hotel, the only one in this tiny island is by far the most luxurious hotel in a beach location in Cuba. To get there options are, you take a taxi for about 5 hours or you take a flight for 50 minutes both from Havana.
There are of course more options and if you are interested in knowing more about Cuba you can always get in touch. I love to share my experiences in Cuba with the readers

Santiago de Cuba, famously known as the Cradle of The Cuban Revolution, has been chosen in a recent a publication as one of the best places in the world to visit in year 2010 and definitely a must when it comes to Cuba holidays.
Rated within the top 10 destinations in the world by the prestigious Frommers Publications, Santiago de Cuba is the best place to see what is like to live in Cuba in modern days.
“Santiago is a culturally rich and scenic city that retains the intimate, friendly feel of a provincial capital, with peaceful neighborhoods where men play dominoes outdoors on hilly streets,” the website said.
Rough Guides: a leading publisher of travel and reference information, respected for their accurate, up-to-date content pointed out that the next 12 months are critical in the development of the tourist industry in Cuba and suggested a great deal of change.
Reuters also suggests things might change drastically in the way Cuba deals with the tourist industry and urges holiday makers to visit the country before the expected massive flock of American tourists.
Not only Santiago is famous for its heroic battles but also for been the birth place of personalities such Don Facundo Bacardi in 1986 who set out to established the world famous Bacardi brand.
Santiago has an International Airport however if traveling from Europe holidaymakers will have to use the nearest Airport in Holguin City about 3 hours drive from Santiago. Another alternative is to fly to Havana and after a short stay a 2 hour domestic flight to the eastern city.
According to reviews extracted from various websites the best time to be in Santiago de Cuba is the week comprising the 26 July. Even though is the hottest time in the year it is worth a visit mainly for its famous Carnivals. The joy of the locals is very contagious and travelers can enjoy the endless street parties that take place all around this historic city.
