The state of Alaska is famous for its cold weather, snow covered land and the diamond willow. The diamond willow is a tree with branches that are very pliable and workable. Diamond willows are known to be a wood workers dream. The shape is irregularly twisted with a diamond shaped or elongated brown patches as natural wood design. Diamond willow can be seen in some parts of the United States and most famous for it is Alaska.
Diamond willows are seen everywhere in Alaska and Alaskans are very proud of this piece of wood that can only be harvested there. Through the woodworkers creativity many things can be done through a diamond willow. Diamond willows can make excellent souvenir items as they are very pliable and soft. Objects can be inserted through them like small clocks and candles. It is also a good toothpick holder, staff and key ring.
They say that Diamond willows are seen in dense Alaskan forests. Their location tends to be swarmed by mosquitoes. Bears are also found to be very near their location. Precautions must be made if hiking and searching for the Diamond willow as the forest may be a dangerous at times. Diamond willows are often located at private forest ground and a hiker may want to seek owner or governments permission to acquire one.
Diamond willows have diamond like designs on its branches. These formations do not really resemble a diamond but are elongated brown colored shapes that are actually the trees heartwood. They are extremely pliable and indeed, a woodworkers dream.
